White Tea~ Learn the Health Benefits of White Tea!

 Organic White Peony Tea
 What is White Tea?

 White tea  is delicate, light refreshing tea is harvested from the Fijian province of China.

White tea  is the delicate buds and leafs that are allowed to be sun-ripened, a unique characteristic of white tea.  This tea may also be known as "white cloud tea", originally grown by Buddhist monks.
Fine, silvery hairs develop on the tea leaf thus called "white tea".

Besides it's remarkable taste, white tea has some amazing health benefits.

Rich in antioxidants

There is no tea with a stronger concentration of antioxidants than white tea. Antioxidants are  naturally occurring chemical compounds that absorb and destroy other compounds known as free radicals. Free radicals break down the cells of the body, and are among the underlying source of many serious diseases and ailments, including heart disease and cancer. Even physical aging has been linked to the activities of free radicals. Antioxidants absorb, weaken and neutralize free radicals continuously. Maintaining a steady supply of strong antioxidants into the body is a important step in the direction of maintaining good health, along with ability to slow down physical aging.

White Tea and a Balanced Immune System

White tea is said to contain antibacterial and antiviral properties.  One of the single most important health benefits of white tea is, its natural anti-inflammatory properties which can help strengthen the immune system and ease inflammation and allergic responses. In addition, white tea helped fight the enzymes and oxidants which lead to inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

Stronger Bones

According to research, avid tea drinkers enjoyed a 5% stronger bone density than non tea drinkers. It is believed the high polyphenol content in teas such as white tea are responsible for this particular health benefit.

Healthy Teeth and Gums

White tea contains small amounts of naturally occuring fluoride and other nutrients which keeps the teeth strong and healthy. It also kills the bacteria which causes plaque, tooth decay, and bad breath.

 Anti-aging, Arthritis and Heart Disease

Researchers from the School of Life and Sciences at Kingston University in South West London tested the health properties of 21 plant and herb extracts and found that white tea outperformed all of them. Their research concluded that the antioxidants in white tea had anti-aging potential and were beneficial in preventing some cancers, inflammation and heart disease.

Healthy Skin

Research showed that white tea is beneficial in protecting the structural proteins of the skin, mainly elastin and collagen. Elastin not only supports the natural elasticity of the skin but is also beneficial for the health of arteries, lungs and ligaments.  Tests showed that white tea helps to prevent the activities of enzymes that break down elastin and collagen.

Flavor Characteristics

A mellow, sweet, non-astringent flavor, with mild floral/nutty notes.

Sencha Cherry Lemonade

Sencha Cherry Lemonade:

 A quintessential green tea, Sencha is one of the most popular teas in Japan.  Sencha accounts for about 80 % of the tea consumed in Japan. It is usually served hot in the winter and chilled in warmer weather.

Sencha literally means "steamed tea", which differs from Chinese green teas, which are typically pan-fired. After the steaming process, Japanese Sencha green tea leaves are hand rolled, shaped, and dried.  The steaming process creates a distinctive difference in the flavor between Chinese and Japanese green tea, with Japanese green tea having a more full-bodied, wholesome flavor. This process of steaming produces a tea more that is vibrant green in color and tealeaves that have higher content of minerals and vitamins.

Health benefits of drinking Sencha;

Sencha green tea is rich in antioxidants, known as polyphenols. These antioxidants are said to have many health related benefits from strengthening the immune system, increasing heart health, skin care and anti-aging benefits along with potential cancer prevention. Sencha tea is also said to help regulate blood sugar levels. Sencha leaves contain fluoride which is used to help maintain oral health and adding to tooth enamel strength.

Please keep in mind, water quality and temperature will greatly affect the flavor of sencha in your cup!.

Flavor characteristics: Sencha green tea has a refreshing mildly sweet, vegetal flavor with subtle herbal notes.

Health benefits of cherries;

Cherries are one of the few food sources that contain melatonin, an antioxidant that helps regulate heart rhythms and the body’s sleep cycles.  Cherries are rich key vitamins and minerals; high in beta carotene (vitamin A) , vitamins C, E, potassium, magnesium, iron, folate and fiber.

Cherries contain anthocyanins, which are said to be powerful anti-inflammatory’s, which can reduce inflammation and symptoms of arthritis and gout.
